[edit] Back Story
Spells are its virtue. Unlike Wizards, Sage has much deeper insight to elements. Sage has the ability to apply its magic in purpose to support other characters. Physically trained as well as in Magic disciplines, they show a great amount of strength even in brute battles. Sages,rely on knowledge and use various techniques and combinations to get the best out of the elements.
While wizards gain additional spells and an increased potential to cause damage, sages gain skills such as the ability to cancel spells mid-cast or to move while charging to increase the versatility and usability of the spells they already possess. Sages also have the ability to enchant the ground with a spell called Magnetic Earth (Land protector in other localizations), preventing all AoE (Area of Effect) magic from causing damage.
Sages are useful during WoE because of their supportive magic and abilities to stop wizards, whom are potentially dangerous in WoE situations because of their AoE skills. Sages are extremely different from wizards because of their abilities to cancel and absorb magic. They are the anti-form of the wizard, built to manipulate magic to their own bidding and prevent it from hurting others. They can also fight in close combat while attacking with magic and casting at the same time through the form of Free Cast and Auto Cast, making this talent very dangerous in the right hands.

| Str | One of the most important stat for the BM (Battle-Mage) and BSa (Battle-Sage) since it affects how much damage you can dish out. It affects your minimum and maximum damage too. It also affects your weight capacity so you can carry all that equipments.The bonus add up in such a way that once you reach that certain amount of strength the pluses add to your Min/Max damage. It means that when you have 60 STR you have a +41 Min/Max damage bonus |
| Agi | The partner of Vitality in making a defensive character.But Agility is more than that, 1 Agi is equivalent to +1 Flee and also adds to your ASPD. Higher ASPD means Faster Killing time. Agility is very vital to Battle-Mages (BM from here on) if you want power leveling. Agility will also help you in melee battles in case that your opponent survived the onslaught of your spells. |
| Vit | If you're planning to join WoE have VIT instead of AGI, but this will some how make your leveling days hard. VIT can be good because if you have elite equips like Phen cards this will some how affect your leveling because Sages can cast while walking plus with the help of Phen Cards even if you're hit your spell wil still continue to be cast. |
| Int | BM-BSa need a minimum of 50 INT to support their spells and their SP recovery and regenaration. |
| Dex | This stat raises your accuracy and your maximum/minimum damage.+1 Dex means +1 Hit same as the Agi-Flee but this stat counteracts that. The standard DEX is 40.Dex also has an influence in ASPD. |
| Luk | This stat is very useful for those who are going for the Crit. But for Sages this may not be helpful. |

[edit] How to become Sage
Sage Job Quest
You must be a Mage at job level 40 or higher in order to start the quest.
1. Registration
If you are at job level 50, you will get a full scholarship so that you do not have to pay any fees or collect any items. Otherwise ...
There are 3 options you can choose to register for the quest:
Option 1: Pay 70,000z Option 2: Bring an Old Magic Book or a Necklace of Wisdom Option 3: He will assign you randomly one of three sets of items listed in option 3[a-c] above.
2. Placement Test
There will be a quiz consisting of 20 questions. Each question worth 5 points. You must get at least 80 points to pass the test. When you are done, your next test will be given by Professor Hermes.
3. Skill Test
In this test, you have to kill all monsters presented to you in 3 phases in a room. You have a maximum of 3 minutes in each phase to clear the monsters. If you get knock out or cannot kill all monsters within the time limit, you will fail the test.
After you pass and return from the test room, depending on how well you done on the job quest so far, he will decide which path you go. He will assign you to either the Biology Professor, the Physics Professor or the History Professor. The professor is going to help you write your thesis. You need a thesis to graduate from the academy.
Biology Class or Physics Class or History Class
a. Biology Class
To get started in his class, he require you to bring him some items dropped by water element monsters. Once you done that, he will ask you some questions to make sure you learn from collecting those items.
For the next lesson, he will ask you to collect some items dropped by insectoid monsters. Again, there are 3 possible sets, see the list above for more information.
When you have gotten the items and give them to him, he will give you a lecture about insectoid monsters. After that, he will ask you bring the required material to write your thesis.
b. Physics Class
If you are assigned to learn from him, you better start making friends with the thief class, archer class and acolyte class (if you haven't already done so). Because you will need their help to complete this part of the quest.
Part 1: To start the lecture, he will ask you to bring him 30 stones as part of the class materials. Just ask a thief class friend to help you with this one. Part 2: After getting him the stone, he will give you 3 elemental stones, you are supposed to ask your archer class friend to turn those elemental stones into elemental arrows and bring the arrows back to the professor. Part 3: Now, he will give you a lecture about elemental properties and then ask you to bring him a holy water for the next lesson. Just ask your acolyte class friend to make a holy water for you. Take it back to him.
c. History Class
To start the lecture, you will have to bring him something that is related to Yggdrasil. You can bring a Yggdrasil leaf, Yggdrasil berry, or a Yggdrasil seed. The easiest to get should be a Yggdrasil leaf since you can buy that in Lutie, Al De Baran and various other locations for 4,000z each.
During his lecture, he will ask you to bring him some items in order to complete your thesis (see the list above). Once you bring him the items, you can start writing your thesis by choosing sentences he present to you to select from. The selections are based on his history lecture, if you have read what he said you should do just fine.
4. Job Change
After you finnish your thesis , you will get a Book[3]. Show it to Magic Academy Headmaster and he will change you to a Sage.
Force
Once you attain the proper level, you can change from Magician to the Sage Class by finding the Job Master located at Prontera (153,193).
